Corporate Feature

“Napoleon, the Donner Party and Granite Construction’s Sacramento and Carson City branches all have something in common: They aimed to accomplish great feats before winter took hold. The similarities, however, end there. Thanks to stellar partnering efforts and a good dose of hard work, the Granite team successfully met its deadline under budget and claim free, earning the Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award along the way.

But it’s not just an efficient schedule that won the branches this prestigious salute for their work on the Caltrans Highway 50 Rehabilitation Project. “This project involved more of a team effort than usual between Granite, Caltrans and small businesses,” says Senior Estimator Roy Iskin. “Through partnering, our traffic management plan greatly reduced road congestion and the economic impact on various stakeholders.”

Such is the intro to one of dozens of feature stories and profiles for the corporate magazine of Granite Construction Inc., showcasing the company’s multifaceted civil contracting and construction work across the nation.
